Scale - Illustration Friday

The Ugly Duckling marveled at the size and scale of the beautiful Swans.
Yeah, okay, I'm stretching the topic - but I just finished this and thought it would fit. This is the third painting in my portfolio series - yay! I am hoping to do one more piece for my portfolio (not in this series) before I send it out! (Aaaaahhh! Scary!) See the other two series illos here.
Please let me know what you think. Gouache on illustration board 12x18"

I always enjoy seeing how people handle colors in the sky...I really like the subtle work on the swan taking off...and your chicken a couple of pics down is top notch!!! I haven't had a chance to mess with gouche too much but I know it can be hard to tame...nice...

just took a look at your 3 folio pieces and I think they look great - they tell a story all by themselves and the rendering is first class. Well done!!

Hey Kelly! Thanks for the comment at my blog. Your illo is very nice. I can't wait to see the finished product. Is gouache hard to use? I'm thinking of dabbling into new media. Hopefully I'll be getting Illustrator for CHRISTMAS!!!:)

Hi Kelly--

Another great illustration for your porfolio. The duckling looks great, wonderful expression on his face, and you were able to keep his look and personality the same in all three pieces. Lovely work on the water and the sky, and the swans look very majestic. You´ve been working very hard, congratulations on creating such beautiful artworks!
